The Vista Village Redevelopment Project was a collaboration between the City of Vista Redevelopment Agency, Civic Partners, Regency Centers and the Community of the City of Vista, California. This multi-phased and ambitious project faced many challenges before becoming a reality in 2003. The problems in the Movie Theater Industry along with the economic down turn following 9/11 and the gap between the strong vision of the community and the economic viability of the project were only matched by the political ties between such a high profile project and an election year in the City of Vista at the ground breaking period of the project.

The Development team made Ms. Muro-Dites the Construction Project Manager of the Vista Village Project at the end of the 30% phase of Construction Documents. At that point, the City team, the Development team and the Design Team became one, with the Community and together found the medium point that kept the Community Vision intact, while allowing the project to become economically feasible for the Development team. Through weekly meetings and daily telephone conversation between the Redevelopment Staff, Planning and Building decision Makers, the Development team was able to direct the design team to value engineer the project and expedite the approval process to bring the project back within a reasonable budget and schedule. In addition to the technical achievements of the project, personal and political relationships to the project turned into positive aspects that only helped the success of the project overall.

The first two phases of the project are under operation, including a Krikorian 15-screen stadium seating theatre complex that has become a source of pride for the community. The Redevelopment Agency succeeded in extending their famous old downtown area into the Main Street portion of Vista Village. They continue working on the Redevelopment of the Area with proof of success through the First and Second Phases of this Redevelopment project.
